Beaumont are invited back to the 60 minute makeover programme for a third appearance.  This time we are providing a striped piece, if you want to know more you'll have to wait until the programme airs later this year.

Beaumont News:

Beaumont upholstery are invited to appear on ITV's flagship programme 60 minute makeover, featuring Terry Dwyer and North East co presenter / designer to the stars, Derek Taylor.  This isn't Beaumont's first appearance on the show, we were featured in a previous show when our furniture was showcased in a home that was being redone.  This show the owners of Beaumont Upholstery actually got the chance to muck in and lend a hand rather than just supplying our quality furniture.  If you watch carefully you'll see us throughout the programme but for those of you wanting a bit more clarity, at the very end, we are standing at the far left when the programme finishes.

JARROW furniture makers will be sitting pretty this week for their TV debut.

Jim Tubbrit and his wife and business partner Lynn, will be featured on the 60 Minute    Makeover, at 2pm on Wednesday.

The South Tyneside couple are shown helping to transform the home of a woman in Walker, Newcastle.

Furniture made by the couple's firm, Jarrow-based Beaumont Upholstery, is also featured on the programme.

Mr Tubbrit said: "We have provided furniture to the show previously, so it was a great compliment that they chose to feature our furniture for a second time.

"This time, we couldn't resist getting involved and doing a bit of painting to help out too.

"This is the first time we have been on the TV, so we are very excited to see the show."

After its furniture was featured on the hit makeover show last October, Beaumont Upholstery saw a huge rise in visitors to its website and has since been inundated with orders for its handmade, bespoke furniture.

Mrs and Mrs Tubbrit are hoping their second national TV appearance will have a similar beneficial effect.

Beaumont Upholstery, based at Jarrow Network Centre, was launched in June last year, backed by funding and support from South Tyneside Means Business.

The business has expanded after going from strength to strength in less than a year.

Mr Tubbrit said: "South Tyneside Means Business was a great help in setting up the business. The team were very supportive and offered lots of useful advice.

"There is so much support out there, you just need to know where to go.

"The process was very straightforward and I would advise anyone thinking of starting a business to get in touch and see how they could help you."

A NEW South Tyneside furniture company is sitting pretty for future success after being featured on national TV today.

Items made by Beaumont Upholstery, based at Amos Ayre Place, Simonside Industrial Estate, South Shields, were featured on the programme 60 Minute Makeover, at 2pm on ITV1.

The popular programme is in its sixth series, and attracts one million viewers.

Launched in June, the company specialises in making custom chairs for the elderly.

Managing director Jim Tubbrit, who runs the firm with wife and business partner, Lynne, said: "The programme makers had spotted some of our products on eBay, and contacted us about making furniture for the series.

"They supplied us with the material, and we made a chair for someone from Burnley who had been injured in a farming accident.

"Our furniture is featured in this week's episode, but they filmed Lynn and I for another programme, actually making some furniture, so that should be screened in a few weeks' time.

"This is great publicity for the business, and I believe the programme gets lots of hits on its website.

"We only launched Beaumont Upholstery on June 23, but we are doing very well, and will probably have to take on another upholsterer soon to cope with demand."

Beaumont Upholstery created a chair and a chaise longue for 60 Minute Makeover.

After running an earlier firm in Frederick Street, Laygate, South Shields, for about 20 years, Mr Tubbrit took a break from business before launching Beaumont Upholstery.

Caroline Foote, day producer for 60 Minute Makeover, said: "The Burnley programme involved a young man who had been badly injured in an agricultural accident and needed a special chair.

&"Beaumont Upholstery will have its furniture featured in one episode, and the owners were also filmed in Wallsend on Tyneside for a future programme."
